THOMASVILLE — The Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary’s mission was to provide a no-kill, no-cage place where cats could reside until forever homes could be found for them.

The 425 Covington Ave. facility has more than met its intent.

“Until our occupancy level reduces, we cannot take any more cats,” said Jerry Henderson, Miss Kitty president.

As many as 200 cats are being turned down weekly.

The sanctuary is housing 122 felines. Some 50 of the cats are under eight months of age and were bottle-fed by sanctuary volunteers.

“We’re comfortable with 100,” Henderson said.
